SKYRACE TASMANIA  -  MARCH 1994

Skyrace Tasmania introduced aircraft pylon racing for the first time in the Southern Hemisphere. It was conducted at the World War II era training airstrip called Valleyfield, in Northern Tasmania.

I have vivid memories of standing beneath pylon one, with the competing aircraft flying past at 500 - 700kmh, only 20 - 30 metres above the ground, in almost vertical banking turns.

  -  About the Photography - The organisers of Skyrace Tasmania commissionsed commercial photographer Bill Forsyth to cover the event. He kindly asked me if I would help him out, which I gladly agreed to. These are the results.
